Blogs > Tangled in Wires

Steve Shoe is the not-so-creative nom de plume of The Saratogian's Web editor. "Tangled in Wires" derives from the feeling he gets living in the modern world (despite the claim that it's wireless), especially when he's in the video editing room at the office. This blog will focus on The Saratogian's online incarnation and thoughts about the changing face of media in general, but the writer can't guarantee you'll be shielded from other things rattling around his head.

Automotive cholesterol

I decided to swing down to the electronics liquidation sale at the Albany Armory (195 Washington Ave.) after work this evening. The event goes on for another hour tonight (until 9, in other words), from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. tomorrow (Saturday) and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m on Sunday. There's a $6 fee to get in.

Unfortunately, I never got there. I forgot the Tulip Fest was going on, and combined with the general commuter flight out of the city on Fridays the traffic situation didn't make for very navigable streets. After getting stuck in slow moving gridlock, winding my way around the blocks surrounding Lark Street, and being thwarted in my attempt to park in Washington Park (the wooden horses sporting "No thru traffic" was what reminded me of the Tulip Fest) I gave up and worked my way back to the Empire Plaza to catch the highway and return home.

Hopefully I'll have better luck tomorrow morning. From the radio and TV spots I saw today, it sounds like they've got some great sales. I was particularly interested in mp3 players for $19. So if you're in the market for electronics, it might be worth checking out. As long as you're there, have a bratwurst at the Tulip Fest.

If I make it to the liquidation sale tomorrow, I'll put some impressions up.

I'd like to hear if you made it or not? I was planning to go today (10-MAY) but I got too tied up in projects to make it. I was planning to go tomorrow but I will save my $6 if you give it a thumbs down :P

Unfortunately I never made it. I got tied up Saturday before having to go out of town for the evening. Got to the Tulip Fest on Sunday, but never made it over to the armory (after fighting waves of humanity in the park and paying $7 for an Italian sausage, I wanted to save my six bucks, too). I figured everything would have been picked over by then, anyhow.
